So, what’s the purpose of the “Kindle Books for a Buck (or Less)” blog? I need your help: I am looking for independent authors to promote on this relatively new blog. I’m looking for your book. The purpose of this new blog, in a nutshell, is to publicize one book each day published by an independent author in the Kindle format that sells for $1.00 or less. I’m not talking about authors that have contracts with a major publishing house, although I will highlight those on occasion, but I’m talking about books written by people like you – someone who writes a pretty good tale but doesn’t have a lot of marketing dollars, as the marketing effort is more likely than not done with your sweat equity and a little bit of word by mouth.
Some might say I am lazy or there’s not enough hours in the day (it’s your call): it’s fairly time-consuming for me to meander through various websites looking for suitable books, and I would like to enlist your help in learning about suitable books to promote on the blog (my somewhat open / sometimes narrow definition of “suitable” is listed below).
What’s in it for me, you might ask? I’ll answer that one first: to be upfront, it’s great content that will maintain and (hopefully) increase the subscriber count to my new blog. That’s where I make my money at thirty cents per month per person who elects to receive the blog on their Kindles. It’s certainly not enough to allow me to quit my day job but it is nice to have those thirty cent increments in this recession that never seems to end, despite what our neighbors and friends in Washington tell us.
What’s in it for you? Possibly, quite a bit.
If your book is my post in this new blog, your book will be promoted for free to approximately 1,000 people on the day the post is published. The 1,000 per day is primarily comprised of the Kindle subscriptions, with an ever-growing population of blog page web views and email subscriptions.
Your book will most likely move up in the Amazon sales ranking, sometimes significantly. Several authors who were stuck in the 225,000+ sales rank had their book crack the 2,500 range; other authors have moved up from the 10,000+ sales rank range to the top 1,000, and we’ve even had several authors crack the top 100. That doesn’t happen each time, as your results could be different.
I’d like for you to tell me about your book(s)!
What am I looking for? Here are my picky requirements: a book in the Kindle format by a self-published author; Kindle pricing of $1.00 or less; has an average user rating of 4 out of 5 stars based on at least 4 customer reviews that are labeled as Amazon Verified Purchases; and, no erotica, soft-porn, or Vampire fiction. I’m pretty firm on all of those requirements, especially the verified purchase ratings.
As a disclaimer, there is no guarantee I will choose your book as I may think it may not appeal to the blog readers. I’m not trying to be arrogant by saying I have a pretty good handle on what my blog readers like or don’t like, but for those of you who don’t know me I’ve been blogging about the Kindle for a few years now. This is an offshoot of my “Free Kindle Books Plus a Few Other Tips” blog (www.fkbooksandtips.com), which has been the #1 subscribed to Kindle blog on the Amazon store since 2010 (don’t take my word for it, go to http://www.tinyurl.com/fkblog to see it for yourself in the Amazon Kindle Store) – hopefully, that will give you some background on my credentials – and most of the subscribers to the Kindle Books for a Buck blog are members of the Free Kindle Books blog (and they are very vocal with their likes and dislikes).
If I do choose your book it may take a while for it to be featured on the blog – remember there is only one book featured per day – but if I do choose your book I will let you know as well as let you know when it will post to the blog. I try to mix the genres up so there is not three romance titles in a row or week, for example. If I don’t choose your book I won’t be a dead letter office but I will have the common courtesy to reply back to you telling you why I didn’t choose it. If it’s a matter of needing 4 Amazon verified purchase reviews, and everything else looks good, I’ll tell you that and also tell you to re-contact me once your book receives those minimum number of verified purchase reviews.
I think it’s important to point out there is no guarantee you will have an avalanche of, or any, sales. However, there is a guarantee if I choose your book you will have at least 1,000 potential Kindle book readers / customers learning more about your book.
Sorry to be so long-winded. If you are interested, and meet my picky requirements as listed several paragraphs above, please send me an email with your book’s title, a brief synopsis of your book, and the ASIN number on the Amazon website via email to michael at fkbooksandtips dot com (I type it that way to try and avoid the spammers). I’m not going to force you to send me a copy of the book in the Kindle format like other sites I know do, but you can if you like: if I’m interested in your book, I’ll certainly buy it.
I hope it works out for both of us!
Regards,
Michael Gallagher
